Shandong's Qilu Nongchao (literally "Shandong's agricultural supermarket") initiative is revolutionizing rural industries by integrating resources and expanding market reach. A recently launched Qilu Nongchao tour will take visitors to over 100 counties and cities across the province, promoting local agricultural products to broader markets.
In Yiyuan county, fruit farmers like Li Desheng are benefiting significantly. "Thanks to the Qilu Nongchao online platform, our peaches are in high demand," Li said. Previously, farmers faced low prices and limited local sales. The platform has changed this by creating a large-scale market presence.
The platform has partnered with local governments, cooperatives, and high-quality farms, boosting sales through online activities like a "peach season-themed selling event", which not only increased sales but also helped bolster the "Shandong peach" brand.
Qilu Nongchao has gathered nearly 5,600 agricultural enterprises and held nearly 100 roadshows, establishing a nationwide marketing network. It has also expanded internationally, with products reaching Japan and Europe.
It features an integrated system with four key components: a transaction hub, data platform, brands, and ecosystem hub. This system supports the entire agricultural industry value chain, from production to sales, and promotes the integration of industry, supply, innovation, and value chains, driving rural vitalization and economic growth.
